Lovely Alpinist, Russ, and as I've said before - awesome combo. Love the MOP dial, Jeff. Johan - cool Panerai homage. I think their position is that the term, "Marina Militare" is copyrighted by Panerai, so they consider it a fake. I think you already knew that, but it doesn't bother me or most people. Nice Alpinist vibe (or is it a real one?) , I've seen Seiko now has an Alpinist in compressor style, two crowns in V-shape... type SSASS Today time for an hommage to the Panarai, this model is banned because of it's name on WUS and the German "Uhrforum". It's difficult to say whether it's a "real" Aplinist because it's from Seiko's Land Series of their Prospex collection. Nicknames are often bandied about when it comes to Seiko which at times, drives ne nuts. Insofar as this SPB 157 is concerned, many have nicknamed it the "Baby Alpinist" That SSAS Alpinist was a limited addition. Great homage you've got there big guy! |

Buhlmann here today for me. That's a great diving tool. Have you figured out how it works yet? Thanks, yes. Although, I'll never use the functionality. To unlock the bezel, you rotate to 1pm and push down then rotate more to almost 2pm. That unlocks the bezel and the crowns can be unscrewed and operated. The one on the right is the internal bezel crown to measure elapsed time. The no-fly indicator is set by the main crown in position 2 like a date setting. The left crown is the helium valve. The watch comes with three bezels, a 20m, 30m, and 40m bezel. You can change the bezels for the depth you want using a supplied screwdriver. Each bezel shows the decompression stops for that depth of dive. Makes for a cool and unique watch for sure and more than capable for desk diving. |
