"Didacticism is a philosophy that emphasizes instructional and informative qualities in literature, art, and design. In art, design, architecture, and landscape, didacticism is an emerging conceptual approach that is driven by the urgent need to explain." Wikipedia notes that Kurt Vonnegut uses a didactic writing style. I sometimes try to emulate Vonnegut's writing style, but didn't know it was called didacticism. By explaining things in prose, the writer gets a lot of power. He can state something that is obvious to anyone. He can state why the character's behavior seems irrational. He can say something that is ironic. I recall Cartland on South Park telling an African that they were hungry because they had no food, and that they should move to where food is.

Good ones, Marcel! I've got on my Waltham Electrodyne today. I don't wear it often, but it's the one my parents bought me just before I went in the Army and it took me through Basic, Advanced and into my first duty station.

Couple of vintages today- Lest We Forget Thanks to everyone who has served their country, and those who have paid the highest price. Very cool watches for Remembrance Day, Marcel! I put the new Orient on a cool blue and silver NATO, and I really like it. The best so far.

Sam Kinison did that bit long before Southpark existed. Warning! Bad words.
