Yeah, believe it or not. It was January 2019 when I last did a photo expedition to Prairie du Sac, WI to photograph eagles. I had just bought my 150-600mm lens, and the next month I would buy my D750 DSLR which has never been on one of these trips yet. And I did not share this here at the time, but I bought a Carl Zeiss 15mm f/2.8 lens last month. Nice price on a used item at my local camera shop. Just messing around with it after the eagles decided to take a break.

I have another round to share tonight. I was really dozing off asleep last night as I was working on the photos. I started the day at 4:30am to catch morning light. Oddly enough, I really like this photo. Conventional wisdom says the messy house backyard ruins it. I just framed the crop to embrace the house instead. Any other way just looked weird. I was shocked to see a bald eagle on a tree in a freeway median a few years ago here in Michigan. They are just damn majestic animals.

I think eagles are flying overhead and unnoticed by many average drivers in the great lakes region. My job has me driving a significant portion of each day and I see eagles unexpectedly year-round. By far most big black birds soaring overhead are vultures. But every so often you see the white head and tail-feathers of an eagle.
