Today I had to think: Once I was only craving bronze watches, now I own already 3! Wow! So second day in a row, this time my first bronze watch. This American one was actually cheaper including VAT and handling costs from the mailman, then my Chinese Chrono with all the discounts I had! That bronze looks great! Today is brought to you by the letter “z” or “zed” I'm going with Zed but then again I have to as a Canuck. I wonder how Dan pronounces it? He is after all the Z man! Great line-up Marcel, love that Zodiac.

I've always liked that red dial with gold hands and markers. It wasn't supposed to be here yet, but when I got home it was on the porch. Dan Henry 1970 compressor! This is the 40mm model, and I like it! Of course the beautiful Tropic strap it came with was just a tad too short. I could actually get it strapped on, but then it was just slightly uncomfortable. I need to lose maybe 9 more millimetres and it wil be perfect. But I looked in my barrel of straps and found this black and orange silicone number with curved ends that looks like it was made for it. Yes, it's a dust magnet, but I can't see the dust without magnification, and it's comfortable. Awesome case back, too! One of the big selling points for me.

Looks great on that rally style strap! Funny, yours is 374 and mine is 418... not really the first in/first out philosophy

I looked at the other colorways, but this is just the right one. I'm glad I found a strap that fits the vintage spirit of the watch. That is weird! You bought yours like a month ago, right? Maybe they packed a lot up in the boxes, and then never kept track of the sequence number. I didn't even look at the number when I got it. Do you think someone in China, or of Chinese descent, has 0888 reserved for a hefty premium?

That's a great addition to the collection!

I would have paid a premium for 666... that colour scheme is closest to the original

My refreshed TST arrived yesterday afternoon, so it's a no-brainer for the wrist today... Is that a certified dolphin-free can of tuna?

The number 8 is considered a lucky number in most Chinese cultures, way more than the number 7 is in ours. Folks in China will pay premium prices for things associated with the number 8. Like license plates, and I imagine watch sequence numbers. This article does a good job of explaining it. I have the Alpina Startimer which is a limited edition of 8,888, and I always figured they made that many because they could sell the final one for enough to cover the cost of hundreds of watches. www.travelchinaguide.com/intro/lucky-number8.htm

Are you stocking up on bronze? They can be melted and recycled as a memorial for you if you meet an untimely end.
