Glycine Airman SST 12
Glycine's homage to their own 24-hr SST, this updated, 42mm version with a sapphire crystal is powered by a GL293 (ETA 2893-2) GMT automatic with a standard 12-hour and 24-hour GMT hand. The rotating 24-hour bezel with screw down lock from their iconic 1953 AM/PM Airman is moved inside a cushion case and a second crown added at the "2" for rotating it. The original Airman SST, released in 1967, was inspired by Boeing's development of their 2707 SST airliner. Glycine's celebration of it got off the ground, even if Boeing's SST never did, with the government subsidized program being canceled in 1971 over mostly unwarranted public fear of sonic booms in addition to environmental concerns about ozone layer damage and airport noise pollution. The Glycine SST became one of the iconic watches bought and worn by pilots during the Vietnam War, along with the 1953 Glycine AM/PM Airman and the 1965 O&W Early Bird (Ollech & Wajs). The deep engraving on the back is an artist's rendition of the 2707 SST. Excellent model watch, John, love the case, dial, red seconds, the back, the lume...
Difference of 2 weeks bronze coloring on bezel. Dates on dial are the right ones.

Okeah is on tonight, back on it's original blue leather strap with the terrible butterfly deployant. It does not snap closed unless you press the release of the clasp. Should be an excuse to go 19mm strap shopping.
