Seiko 5 Field Watch (SRP275; 4R36) on sage green Marathon Mil-Spec "zulu". The impossible to find mythical one with hand-wind, hacking and drilled lugs. These came and went quickly in 2013. Took me a while to find one. Bought it from a Japanese dealer on Global Rakuten. Seiko put them on a wacky green NATO strap with bright orange racing stripes which was immediately replaced with the Marathon the day it arrived. It would be a decent military watch except for one deal-breaker: the dead flat hardlex crystal that's like a signalling mirror. Sunlight reflecting from it can be seen for well over a mile. A good military watch will have a convex domed crystal to prevent that, and it doesn't take much curvature (e.g. Hamilton's Khaki field watches).

Very nice, John- I'm supposed they didn't go with the big "9" to help balance the dial. Maybe it would have just crowded it. Never got to the Zodiac yesterday, so it's on the wrist today. Frédérique Constant later... have a great weekend everyone.

Cool, one might always find a sapphire and domed crystal, possible also for this one. Bronze in brass color today... Today also an investment in 10 new solar panels on our roof. (sorry for the side wards pic)
