So, as you may remember, I ordered a Dan Henry watch. Well, I was surprised when it was shipped from the United States... and I was hopeful. Now I wish it had been mailed from China. This parcel has been sitting at JFK since July 24th... The postal system in Canada is not much better, I’ll admit, but they’re moving packages. But really, USPS, three weeks with no movement?!?!

You're dealing with US and Canadian Customs on both sides. That's why it's at JFK. That's one of the Customs transfer points between the US and other nations. Parcel mail is moving through there and Chicago's at a snail pace with all the additional protections and distancing required attempting to prevent the workers from spreading the Wuhan Virus among each other.

John, I understand what you’re saying, but the goods aren’t moving at all. This is not normal. I’ve waited a couple weeks for movement before, but there are no scans for 3 weeks. I work for Customs and have friends in Canada Post. We are all surprised at the complete stall. probably got run over by an airport truck, like one of my other watches that went through JFK...

I had one of the recent acquisitions stalled at JFK's Customs facility for several weeks and was getting worried. It eventually shook loose. One of the other phenomena is occasional detailed inspection when there's suspected smuggling afoot. Instead of the more cursory inspections looking for the obvious, they go into detailed ones including sorting. Not the USPS doing this, but Customs. It can bring the whole show to a snail crawl for a couple weeks. You can inquire with USPS about status. See the USPS web site. I've done this a couple times with stuff that was ping-ponging between two transit facilities because one of them was insisting on routing it to the wrong one. Their human intervention fixed it and they were responsive with it when I called them and asked for help. All the USPS I've had inside the US has moved just fine - which includes a good amount of Amazon stuff. Priority over longer distances might take three days instead of two. It's the stuff moving between countries that's been hanging up at border crossings, both here and in Asia. USPS can't tell you anything about stuff that's in Customs' hands, only that they have it. They do have greater visibility of tracking details than the site shows. See their "Contact Us" page for email and phone number - scroll down the page some to see it. www.usps.com/help/contact-us.htm
