Well, after four and a half years, 23 million steps and 18000km; my fitbit Flex 2 tracker has finally given up the ghost. I have a replacement which will be pressed into service tonight after work. Let's hope to match these numbers.

Basically, it's an update to this A fitbit is used, in my case, to motivate myself to do better with exercise and getting outside. It tracks my steps, swimming and exercise daily and I use those numbers to push myself harder and further. My job is rather sedentary these days, so it's a great tool. It has been said: " you don't need to be better than anyone except the person you were yesterday"

I felt as I am getting nowhere with my food loving character for doing something for my big belly what is getting in my way with everything nowadays , not even with going to the gym 3 times a week. Since there's no need for me to work anymore, and I have a 24/7 subscription to my Gym (6 minutes walk or so), I decided to go everyday and do one day leg and arm muscles and some back exercising and the other day treadmill and bike for 50 minutes. So between 50 minutes and an hour everyday and see, where we are a month from this. Paula thinks I might get bored of it, but I am looking to the end result and thus far I don't hate it yet.

Sounds like you are doing well- keep it up! I have the belly as well, but I am doing my best with controlling food consumption and the fitbit gives me a daily goal in steps, distance, exercise and calories burned. I just read my progress throughout the day on my phone. There are other models with readout as well.

Good on you both. Our physical health is one thing we can take positive steps to improve. With a little will power I managed to lose 25 pounds (down to 180 lbs - or 81.65 kgs for the Eurocentrics, and 12 Stone and 12 pounds for our Imperial brethren) and have managed to keep it off for quite a few months. All this was done with diet changes. Little to no sugar and have cut down on wheat almost completely - what little I eat is gluten free. The gluten was to help with some skin issues, but had the extra benefit of helping me shed some pounds too. I have also cut down on my beer consumption and do smaller portions. I needed to lose weight to help with High Blood pressure, per Doctor's orders. Probably not the answer for everyone, but it worked for me! Target weight achieved, just not target shape! I left the USMC in 1987 at 175-180 with a 28" waist. Now I'm 180 with a 34" waist. Next step is to see if I can work my way down to 30" through targeted exercise. Never too late! At 58 I'm in better shape than I was 10 years ago (some of you remember my health challenges from then).
