Going with my Solar Aqua and Air King today... have a wonderful day, all! Oldies but goodies, Marcel. The vintage feel is also getting my bronze Invicta, and it's even darker then in the (older) pictures already...

Nice Oldie with the period bracelet on it Marcel! Continuing through the 1980's here ~1982 Casio Pace Runner (aka Running Man) J-50; module 208
In addition to pace setting and distance accumulation based on pace and stride, it has an alarm, stopwatch with lap feature, and timer functions. Snap-on case back has some water resistance, but this Casio isn't made for bathing or swimming. Original strap hardened, and broke into bits from age embrittlement over 15 years ago. Common for the Casio from this era. Found replacement that was nearly identical. Resin case is still fine.

Thank you, James. Bronze does age beautifully- I can just imagine the patina.

By happy circumstance, after I bought the watch, I found a Government of Canada archive of scanned and indexed mail order catalogues. In the 1940 Eatons catalogue, I found the ad for the Solar Aqua. Attachment Deleted I thought this was a cool piece of history. When I started to look for a vintage bracelet, I perused dozens before deciding on this one... Attachment Deletednot realizing ‘til about a month later that it was identical to the artists rendering for the ad! I have always liked the look of the “Running Man” watches. I know of those brittle straps... glad you found a replacement.

Going with my Solar Aqua and Air King today... have a wonderful day, all! Is that the original lume on the Solar Aqua hands? Still honeymooning with the Islander, of course. Maybe tomorrow I will start putting it on straps.

Maybe tomorrow I will start putting it on straps. No, they were re-lumed by my watchmaker a few years back. Not too bad at night. Great new shot of the Islander. I love the irony of the tropical sounding name “Island Watch”, then seeing Long Island etched into the back. I know it’s not a deception- just makes me chuckle. Or, could just be my weird sense of humour. Can’t wait to see the fashion show!
