Nice! Is that a cap over the crown, or the crown itself? Otherwise it's huge!

Thanks, guys! Johan, it's the crown itself. It's a bayonet crown, so it locks into the grooves in the crown guard - definitely an interesting mechanism. Here's a pic of it open and a pic of the original trench watch this is a remake of.

Congratulations, Mike! They definitely updated it right. It's very modern, but retains its character. That crown is really cool! And 41mm is probably a lot bigger than the original. Plus, the crown and guards should make it wear bigger.

That is awesome Mike. It's really a handsome piece and a great addition and as others have noted, that crown is amazing!

That's a beauty, Mike! Waltham is a great brand. Congrats! It is a beauty, but Waltham today is a Chinese zombie brand. You want the pre-1960 watches.

Thanks, Chris. Not sure what you mean by a Chinese zombie brand. Perhaps you're referring to the fact that Invicta bought some rights to the name back in the '80s, but I don't think anyone today is manufacturing Waltham watches. This Waltham was made by Watch Angels, which is a Swiss family owned manufacturer since 1979. They produced the watches and sell them through crowdfunding, so it's not Waltham watches making them, but it's also not a Chinese company, certainly not Invicta. Personally, it might be cool to own an original Field and Marine, but I'd probably never wear it, which is why I like this re-make.

It is not an actual "Waltham" brand is it? It's a Watch Angels.
I actually bought a Chinese made Waltham ana-digi around 30 years ago. Total zombie brand item, no tie to Waltham, MA at all.

The last I saw the name being used was 20 years ago, maybe. Cheap quartz, but not bad. My very first analog chronograph was a Waltham, purchased in 1999 at a local department store. I still have it!

Thanks - I didn't necessarily think you meant my watch, but was not sure. This one is actually an official collaboration between Waltham Watch Company and Watch Angels - the purpose of this re-issue is to bring Waltham watches back to America according to the Watch Angels site. I can see how Chinese zombie brands using the name were around 30 or so years ago. Funny thing is that the Invicta that was a part of SGT many years ago was the Swiss Invicta, prior to the current day Invicta. I'd love to see Waltham come back to Waltham, MA - I have a Waltham pocket watch from my Grandfather from 1900 - doesn't run, but it's a beauty.

Very cool, Dan. I am not sure whether that's a Waltham official watch or a non-official. I thought that after 1981, the SGT organization, that included Invicta, and that had bought Waltham Watch Company went under. Yours is a beauty though.
