Sometimes I just want to find out if my watch is truly running crazy fast or slow. Fortunately, on iOS and Android there are a few apps for that. I've tried several timing apps for my watches such as timegrapher and watch checker but thus far, the Watch Accuracy Meter app on my phone has performed the best. A few caveats on these apps before I get going. You need a very quiet area to use these- they depend on the microphone. You also need to fiddle a bit with the sensitivity of the microphone to dial it in right. What works best WAM here is the auto recognize bps that seems quicker than the others. Also, the graph is the easiest to read in my opinion- just drag to center the reading and it's ver legible. Opinions will vary. I also like the comparison reports available. Any watch you put on the timer can have the results saved for comparison. The reports are nicely laid out: Other apps may offer more, but I just found their clunky graphs and interface difficult. I do like this app, just to know if something is drastically wrong with my watch.

I attempted to install on my tablet, but there is not enough free space on it. I think my phone could be overwhelmed by it, but I may try it later.

That looks like a fun toy! I'm definitely going to play with it and see how my watches are doing.

Got it running on my very cheap phone. I could only get a reading so far if watched placed flat on a table top and I set the microphone directly on the watch. Trying the 9-down position gave me nothing. Just fooling with the Valhalla and it's NH35. Maybe should try out my Omega soon.

Maybe turn the sensitivity down slightly.

Quick and dirty first try on the Planet Orient. I'll need to do some tweaking, and lower the sensitivity. This was about as quiet as my house can get. not a bad first impression for a 15-year-old watch. Attachments:

I'm not doing any deep analysis. Just simple dial-up tests to get a rough assessment of my various watches. But they definitely regulated the JP-1 before sending it out. You couldn't ask for a better reading. Of course, the Valjoux 775* family is well know for being able to run at chronometer specs. Attachments:

I have been measuring my watches as I wear them the past 3 days. All orientations. Hot take: my Stowa is even better tuned than I thought it would be. The Seamaster's numbers are not far off of the Valhalla's NH35, and it is somewhere about 50 years old. Unknown servicing as I never had a pro check it yet. This graph is of my Hamilton Team Earth. The Swiss movements have had a lot less "noise" dots on the graph.
The charts of the Team Earth, Stowa, and Omega.
