I am making a single thread that I will add photos to during the year. Less messy than starting a new thread every time. These are from May 27 and June 3. Travels for work, had lunch at each place. Port Washington, WI Donald county park near Verona, WI

The first picture of Donald county park makes me feel so happy! When I was younger I spent a lot of time in Niagara County, NY, where there were tons of properties that had been farmland and had been left to become feral. Looked exactly like that. Last time I drove through the area, the stuff closer to Erie County and Buffalo had become suburbs.

A series of infrareds from today. A storm front had recently moved through which gave me dramatic clouds and sunshine to work with. I knew about the weather and also that I would be driving by this wind farm location. Spooky!

More windmills today, with 100% more color. Wind/solar farm at Fennimore, WI. Nikon Z5 + 24-70mm f/4 lens Rest are Nikon Z5 + Carl Zeiss 15mm f/2.8 (manual focus lens) That same photo in B/W...

Truth be told, I have driven past this location many times and have been planning out photographing these windmills for a long time. My company had been renting a copier for the contractor that did the initial development of the solar farm site. I actually thought the solar farm would be more complete by now. I had the right sort of sky this trip. Only way I could have made it better is if it were early morning or late in the day so I could get shadow lines. This was high noon, possibly the worst time of day to take landscapes. But since I'm taking a few minutes of work time to do this, I really don't have a choice on the time of day. And if you have not been outside of a vehicle near some of these giant wind turbines, they have a low-frequency hum as they spin.

The weather forecast was for some possible rain storms today. I brought my infrared camera along with me as I worked in the hopes of seeing dramatic clouds. Didn't really happen according to plan. Spring Green, WI for lunch. And the blackbirds look really black this way. End of the workday at downtown Madison, WI

I finally figured out where the pic was taken from. The capitol building looks really different from other angles. I finally was smart enough to look for the statue.

I parked my car very near this corner to do a job and pulled out the camera and walked a bit at this end of downtown since it was the end of day.
This is the very top of State Street. In the previous photo I turned around and look down the hill into State Street towards the University of Wisconsin Library Mall. Since this is a west-facing street, it has the possibility of a Madison-henge photo in the fall at sunset.

For July 15 there was widespread storms forecast. I had hopes of capturing more dramatic clouds in IR. I decided to experiment with a very wide-angle 15mm Carl Zeiss lens on my IR Nikon D600 camera. The experiment did not go as well as I hoped. There is a definite hot-spot in the middle of the lens in the infrared range. I like the wide angle look, but will have to stick to the tried and proven Nikon 28-150mm f/3.5-4.5D zoom lens. It's older, cheap to buy, but does not have the hot-spot problem. I have to stop hanging-out at wind-farms. This one is near Friesland, WI. Clouds solid overcast with no texture I was hoping for. Later in the afternoon at Watertown, WI. Now I have better clouds. There are raindrops on the lens visible. I really needed a tractor or something up-front.
